After a Month we are still thinking if we should go with K1 or get married now and go for K3!!! This is absolutely frustrating, and we are both highly strung on this subject. We have decided on K1 but apprently the law that was passed this yr affected the k1 processing timeline. we are currently researching more on K3.

Along the way, many good souls have given us advices but unfortunatley they differ. Some says K1 is less complicated and will be faster. Some said K3 is faster in all sense. The authorities gave vauge answers and said it varies from cases. we cant comment for sure!

Did you find out about Direct Consular Filing? I recall this being discussed in a previous thread of yours. It doesn't seem that anyone actually pointed out that DCF is NOT the same as a K3 visa. Generally (but obviously not always) DCF is the fastest process. After that, K1 and K3 visas often take longer. I am not sure which, K1 or K3, might be faster. Let me explain the difference. Direct Consular Filing (DCF) is done when the American citizen is a resident of another country and marries there. DCF, if available in the country in which the US citizen is residing, (which I believe is Singapore in your case) is the option to use if the American citizen and his/her spouse want to return the US. The couple gathers the required information and files directly at the consulate/embassy in that country (again, Singapore). The case is often processed and approved right at the initial filing at the embassy, provided everything is in order. The rest of the time is spent waiting for the interview (althought I'm sure there is more information to be provided, perhaps similar to packets 3 and 4?). I don't know if DCF is available in Singapore, but if so it may be the best option for you. You can read more info here, and talk to people on the DCF forum here. Best of luck!
