Do you mean Affidavit of Support? An Affidavit of Support is a downloadable form.

the affidavit can be done after the fact by anyone with personal knowledge of the event. It is a form letter. check out the wiki article here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Affidavit

it is a sworn statement from that person.

I don't know the exact name of the person that does this is called in your country, but you can type up the letter and have the person go to an attorney or judge and tell them you want this to be a legal document and then the person would sign it in front of them. Than the attorney or judge would stamp the letter with an official seal and maybe write a small statement to the effect that they have the power to do this. They may also ask the person to take an oath before singing it.

*Side Note: In the US a person that does something like this is called a notary public, and it could be anybody even the guy selling hot dogs in front of the court house...lol

That is not true..they do recongize notorized documents like affidavits...they do not recongize (in most cases unless country is part of the Hague Convention) notorized copies of birth certificates and other legal documents that are issued from a government agency. They accepted the affidavits that we sent that were done in the philippines for proof of bonafied marriage/relationship.

You don't need any lawyer or judge to make affidavits official, they are only secondary documation.

yes they accepted ours that way too but also told us it didnt matter about the notorization that a doc notorized in the philippines is not recognized as certified, the docs are accepted under the premise of truthful with the penalty of purgery, documents that have to be certified and notorized can be notorized at the embassy at (get this) 30 usd per document ... thank you no ... the consul officers look on notorized documents as a joke here in the philippines as just about any lawyers office for a fee will notorize anything in most cases without even reading the doc !
