Hi all,

Im getting a tad confused. So hoping for someone to come in and make things clearer for me!

I got a letter from the Embassy ..Two links. One was for the medical page on embassy site and the other was documents i need to collect. Police check..Birth certificate etc.

My fiance went to the site for me and downloaded forms im expected to fill in or we atleast think i am expected to fill in >.<

This is the only letter i have received. I keep reading people talking about packet 3 received etc etc! and im sitting thinking ok all i have got is this slip of paper. Which after reading is making me feel like im in a major DIY process.

All i know is im supposed to collect documents and then ring some number?...yet they dont provide any number! and let them know i have everything collected.

I have no idea if there is a deadline or anything /sigh

Hiya (again lol),

This is all you'll receive. I received mine in Octoer (whilst I was away) and didn't return it until end of December. I think the only think to be mindful of is the expiry date of the NOA2 but from what I've read you don't need to be overly concerned. I've got my other half to do another notarised letter of intent just in case (can you see the pattern with me?!).

In terms of expiry, I nearly forgot, I DID receive a letter asking if I still wished to continue with the application as they had not received my paperwork yet and saying I should have it back to them within four weeks or something. But this letter crossed paths with my returned documents.

Hi again haha!

Thats a relief to know. I must admit i was expecting huge envelopes being pushed through my letter box by the postman xD

All im doing at the moment is getting police checks etc done. Then i assume i telephone the Embassy and just let them know im ready? or do i write to somewhere?

I would love to know also, if there is a list for Noddy people like me where it lists the exact vaccinations me and my son need to have.

I think i am up to date but for sure my son aint! Hoping my GP can help us out.

Sending back the checklist and the required documents (you take your police certificate and birth certificate with you to the interview and probably some other stuff like the I-134 etc.) is enough to let them know that you are ready for interview.

Re: The medical - there should be a link on the embassy website to the required vaccinations. I printed that and took it to the nurse at my GP's surgery who figured out what we needed and done them for my daughter and I for free.

http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/iv/vaccinechart.html

Also take a look at the sticky in the forum for medicals.

i am assuming you are applying for the K1 visa.. If not then disregard the following...

You need the following forms, available from the Embassy website.

Here http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/iv_15.html

DS156 (in duplicate)

DS167 (in duplicate)

DS230

IV15K

These make up packet 3.

Follow the instructions on the embassy website and you will be fine.

The police certificate and other documents are required at the interview, you should not send them with packet 3.

Infomation on the medical can be found here. http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/medexam_K.html

And yes the GP/Nurse will guide you through the vaccinations.

Good luck

Who arranges the Medical appt me or the Visa people? Sorry with all the questions!

Im currently in the States visiting my Fiance and got offered a job out of the blue for when i move here.

Im hoping a letter from this employer may give strength to our K1 application. Even if it is in some little way!

My fiance is sponsoring me.

You arrange the medical, and try to ensure it is at least a week before your interview.. There is a PDF file you can get from the second link i gave you that gives you full instructions on how when where and why for the medical. The most painful part of the medical is the trains and the price.

  • 2 weeks later...
Filed: K-1 Visa Country: United Kingdom
Timeline

DS156 (in duplicate)

DS156K (I did theis one in duplicate too)

DS167 (in duplicate)

DS230

IV15K

All the above forms need to go back as well to the embassy then...?

When i read this i thought it was basically just the 'IV15K' that went back (i haven't sent anything yet, but i will be later in the week - Phew! ).

Do NOT send any documents to the Embassy with these forms. The documents must be presented to the consular officer on the day of the visa interview.

Oops... never mind. They make it clear down the page... :bonk:

On receipt of the Forms DS-230-I, DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157 and IV-15K, the Immigrant Visa Unit will complete all necesary administrative processing of your visa application.
