Hello Everyone

A couple questions on my situation, would be great to get clarity.

I am an American citizen. I've been living in the UK the last ten years (hence I believe domiciled here in UK).

I married a Swedish Canadien (dual) last year and we're planning to move back to the USA. So I've applied to sponsor her. However we've been turned held up because I have no US-based income. Living and working in UK counts as UK-sourced etc. I did fill out the i864 but they said because not US-sourced, need to get someone in USA.

So my father (her father-in-law) is stepping in as joint sponsor to me. He's retired in the USA but has enough income assets to complete form.

Question -

Can a father-in-law be a joint sponsor?

Does this qualify as a 'joint sponsor' situation?

Other background -

I have a home in the USA we plan to move to.

We both have enough liquid assets to be well above the poverty line guides.

We've submitted proof of intention to move.

thanks for any clarity or someone gone thru same process.

mike
