Concern over state aid prompts more pink slips

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, Mass. (WPRI) - Nearly one hundred teachers in South Kingstown are in danger of losing their jobs.

The Narrgansett Times reports that 99 South Kingstown teachers were issued layoff notices.

The superintendent says the cuts are necessary because of uncertainty over the amount of local aid included in the state budget.

By Rhode Island law, all school districts are required to notify teachers about the possibility of layoffs before March 1st.
