Does anyone here seriously believe that because Affirmative Action exists, that whites are somehow getting a bad deal as a result?

If that were the case, then why do we have these statistics that show how blacks have lower than average incomes, lower than average life-expectancies and access to healthcare, lower than average levels of general education, increased likelihood of a broken home, prison and drug and alcohol abuse.

Either these realities exist because blacks are inferior (which is a truly racist view) or its because our society does not offer a level playing field.

You want to find the largest number of Lexus vehicles, go to any ghetto. Heck, I have seen more people with Iphones there than in my own area. Interesting how they have enough money to buy these but not put food on the table.

Yes, there are people who are struggling and don't have adequate assistance in ghettos. But there are a hell of a lot of people who reside in ghettos that have zero interest in progressing and becoming functional law abiding members of our society. Unfortunately the first group of folks cannot succeed when the streets are war-zones due to the latter groups zero interest in improving their area, going to college, starting a legitimate business or learning a trade. Lets not pretend whitey had anything to do with the total destruction of areas that are made up of the lower class.

As I have said may times before, a can of paint, sand paper, nails, a hammer and a trash bin costs under $40 bucks at walmart. Since they apparently have all this time on their hands, as can be seen in pretty-much any ghetto street corner, surely they have half a day to improve their area, their community or their section 8 homes.

Affirmative Action is not some all-encompassing national policy that exists solely to advantage blacks at the expense of the white majority. Affirmative Action programs exist for women, gays, the disabled, military veterans and (OMG) people on low incomes. I've pointed this out several times in the thread, yet noone wants acknowledge it because they're too busy railing against black entitlement.

Let me just say that there was another thread on exactly this topic a while ago - and someone on here who was an admissions counsellor for higher education posted on here and explained just how much goes into determining a university place.

The way you go on anyone would think all that's required to be accepted is to check the box for "black" on the application form - and Bob's your father's brother.

It doesn't work like that.

You pointing something out versus reality are two totally different things. If this is overblown and simply a case of water under a bridge, then why did the latest supreme court judge recently deal with a case regarding firefighters being discriminated against, because they are not minorities?

These concerns have nothing to do with 'the expense of whites' and certainly is not a case of 'whites whining'. Fair is fair. Don't cry racism when it suits your agenda, only to come downplay race being used as a determinant to give one group and advantage over others. In your mind, since other groups like "women, gays, the disabled, military veterans" were also considered, it somehow makes it okay that those of a certain race are being given preference; yes, a preference based on their race (skin color).

It doesn't work like that.

We go round and round as you have a fail in logic. You honestly have your head in the sand and only see what you want to see. E.G. That all people think, act, and behave in the same manner. Wrong!.. As humans we definitely all think, act and behave a certain way, just not in the same manner. Not by a long-shot actually; with much of it being aligned to cultural and historical norms.

For anyone to suggest that in 2010 black Americans, in particular, are still being victimized and not actually given the upper hand over anyone else, is honestly laughable. The most ethnocentric group of people I have ever met in the world are African Americans period. The role has now reversed my good friend, too bad you don't see it. Why else would five or so guys accused of dragging a black girl into their house and rapping her stay mum and even serve time, when they were innocent? Because had they said hey I am innocent and she is lying, Jesse Jackson and co would be on to them. What does that tell you 99? To a foreigner like myself, it says a hell of a lot about the state of affairs in the United States in 2010. Nonetheless, I am sure that incident is just another one of those 'isolated overblown stories' you like to play down. I think we are up to 23 or so now. Not that anyone is counting..
