In Dutch or in Afrikaans? I'm told there's a difference.

I'm impressed you know about Afrikaans, I started saying "Dutch" instead of "Afrikaans" since moving here otherwise I had to go into the whole history of south africa and how Afrikaans is kitchen dutch or just a dutch dialect  It's a little slang word one would say to a kid touching something nasty.

Of course I know about Afrikaans. How else can you communicate with an ostrich? They won't answer if you speak to them in Dutch.
