Actually I think I'm pretty close and you know it. Whatever, I'm done with personal insults for the day. Give that a shot some time and get out there and get yourself a real life.

Think whatever you like. You are wrong, again.

Prefer airliner planes and food made in the USA. Restored my mom's Toastmaster toaster and waffle iron, both made in Minneapolis, MN, think that is in the USA, both were over 60 years old, both were working. Mostly a cleanup and a polishing job, all screw and nut construction, and very easy to take apart. Also have a Hamilton Beach malt shaker from the 50's, made in the USA, that is one fine machine.

The belt on my 40 year old made in the USA air compressor finally went, actually it stretched to the point where I couldn't adjust it anymore, first time I had problems with it. Same with my 40 year old Craftsman shop vacuum I purchased at the same time, but the power switch contacts were just dirty. All my tools were made in the USA, very fine quality and still warrantied for life, as is my machine lath and milling machine. The drills, mill ends, and cutting tools were all made in the USA, with complete sets yet. Did purchase a set of drill bits from China, suppose to be high carbon steel and all that, a bit breaks when I just look at it or is dull when drilling a hole in balsa wood. ####### as well as all of their tools, appliances, vacuum cleaners, microwave ovens, electronics, all #######.

25 years ago in my small town we had six TV repair shops, today we have zero, motor repair shops, vacuum cleaner repair shops, also today, all gone. Everything we buy is throwaway and now force to pay a stiff recycling charge to get rid of this #######. More and more car parts are also throwaway, won't be long until the entire vehicle is throwaway. Our homes are also throwaway the way they are made today.

This use to be a great country with the highest quality, inexpensive repair parts, that is all history now, just throw it away.

Manufacturing decided to build in obsolescence some time after the 60's probably because making things last wasn't in the interests of consumerism and the great capitalist machine...unless of course you believe that is a conspiracy theory?

Yup, if we're talking about how to curb over-population that would make sense to me too...

I would also look into creating a virus to make people sterile - with a costly antidote.

Decimate their populations without killing a single soul.

Then again, I'm evil.

You are not evil, you are a self proclaimed nihilist. It's difficult to feel compassion when you believe that life is pointless, that you wish you were not born and that children are unnecessary.

Yes, I do believe those things.

Here is a real way to fight climate change and improve manufactoring. Instead of the standard Tariff protectionist stance, how about laws that regulate shipping in terms of carbon? IE tax manufactured goods based on their mileage from factory to retail.

Example.

An auto tyre. less than 500 miles = tax break

501 -1000 miles = + 0%

1001 -2000 miles = +5%

2001 -3000 miles = +10%

3001 - 4000 miles = +15%

4001 - 5000 miles = +20%

5001 - 5500 miles = + 25%

5550+ = 75%

This would create smaller more dispersed facilities that use less resources.

Interesting suggestion.

Personally I don't buy the we should just watch all of our jobs be exported to third world countries argument, in order for some idiot to buy a product half price at walmart. There is more than one way to promote products be manufactured locally, without putting up trade tariffs.

be a free license to take whatever you can get, however you can get it." President Obama
