We just booked our civil ceremony for Aug 14th 2010....we are still waiting for Montreal to come through with a interview date so they got enough time till Aug to hopefully get us in. I am excited....I can't believe that were this close to the big day.

You have to book a civil ceremony? For your sake and all the rest of us Montreal interview waiters, I hope some more interviews get booked soon. Have fun as you get ready for your wedding.

grats on setting a date. however with the current issues with Haiti, visa etc and dos are now backlogged. Hopefully August is a safe enough date.

Congrats on setting a date...hopefully you can change it if necessary without costing anything. You don't know when your interview is going to be with Montreal backlogged and an inteview doesn't guarantee a visa. Don't want to sound negative...just something to think about before making any further arrangements. Just my 2 cents worth. Take care.

Do you really think the DOS "backlog" will slow down petitions that are already at the Montreal Consulate?

i was told by dos that there are ppl who have been waiting since october who have not been booked yet. add to that backlog the current events and i'm not expecting an interview til late march maybe april if possible. as wis-can said, not to sound negative but it is a very long wait.

Good question. I would like to know what people's opinions are on how the crisis in Haiti will affect K1 and CR1 petitions. We just moved our date from April to August feeling pretty comfortable that we'd be safe. Now I'm not so sure. This is excruciating! And by saying that, I’m not complaining about Haiti :)

I don't think it will affect the backlog in MTL as it doesnt really have much to do with Haiti. I'm not sure on the NVC end for the CR1's but I think they probably have a whole seperate section to book those interviews, and K1's are booked by MTL themselves, so I don't really see why it would affect anything as its not like those interviews would be thrown up here to take place. They just have been short staffed for awhile and have to deal with certain visas that have number limits in a more timely fashion than with the CR1 or K's where there are no limits to how many can come in. The consulate director who interviewed me told me that was part of the reason they were backed up, because they need to make sure they get through the ones with limits so other countries done fill up all the alotted slots.
