Hi all,

My hubby had conditions removed this past year. When he changed status from student to LPR we visited SSA to get the "valid for work only with DHS permission" stamp removed.

So now that the conditions have been removed, do we need to notify SSA?

And will we need to do it again when he applies for citizenship?

Thanks for your help with this!

Thanks for asking this question. I was thinking about the same information.

I know that you must do it once he gets naturalized, this way he registers to be a legal voter as well as some benefits kick in once a citizen. I'll let someone else answer the residency period.

However, read this thread that seemed to be very useful in a nice way the author puts it. It points out the different things he did once naturalized.

Hope this helps.
