Hi there! Well this is my first time and I'm excited!

Well my fiancé and I are getting married in Feb! I'm from the UK and she's from US and I can't wait to start our new life together. However we are slightly worried about the whole VISA process. We received our NOA2 on 11th Novemeber saying that the forms are now being sent to the London Consulate, however I have not heard anything from the London embassy and now it’s just short of ebing a month since our last update. Can anyone advise if there is anything I can do to speed up the process as everyone seems to have received their NVC Receive and consulate receive shortly after the initial approval.

Any help would be greatly appreciated 

Regards

First, I would call the NVC and ask them if they still have it. You'll need your and her name and birthdays and your case number. Then ask for the new Case number (for the consulate), if they passed it along, you can email or call the consulate and ask for an update.

After my NOA2, I never received anything from NVC. If I would not have called, we would not have known anything until our consulate sent my SO the Packet 3.

In other words, I am not sure how many of the others 'received' dates are really that they got information in mail or email, and how many (like mine) are based on us calling.

Hi there thanks for the replies I managed to call the NVC and they told me that it was all sent to the London Consulate on 17th Novemeber, just neither my fiance or myself have recieved anything advising us this.

Should I call the embassy and check that they have got it now and try to get the packet sent? Or should I wait? I only ask as it's getting closer and closer to our wedding date and i'm nervous

Good to see that I'm not the only one in that boat. that makes sense that people may have just phoned them up as we have. I will phone the embassy and get onto them next :)

I'd seek the advice from the folks in that thread.

BTW it's never a great idea to set a firm wedding date when there are visas involved. Doing so causes undue stress (as you're finding out!) and they tend NOT to work to a date that you've set. Also December is notoriously slow at London (staff vacations, holiday time, etc).

Do not wait for the P3 to be sent. Call DOS ((202)663-1225 press 1, 0 ) and ask for status. If they say Packet 3 has been issued, then you can go to the embassy website http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/iv_15.html, follow the instructions and send in your forms right away. The official packet 3 only has a link to this website.

If they don't say packet 3 has been issued, then give it a few days and call back.

I agree with the PP that you should not make any solid plans or buy flight tickets until you have your visa in hand. Absolutely anything could happen between now and then (delays at the embassy, requests for additional information, etc., broken visa printers, etc) that could cost you some $$ in the end.
