Will you believe me when I tell you I know many (many, many, many) Indian immigrants in the US?

Law abiding, not really. It's true they're not gangbangers. It's true they don't rob or murder.

But tax evasion is a cottage industry. So is hosting illegal boarding houses. And hiding your money to qualify for need based federal student aid. I could go on. There's a whole list of things that are widespread in the Indian immigrant community in the US.

Getting a few bucks from the government is not the same as terrorizing a neighborhood. One is sneaky theft while the other is murder, violence, assault or rape.

The cumulative effect is to raise the cost of government for everybody. Corruption effects us all.

But yes, I will grant that most people (myself included) would rather live in a nation that was corrupt to the core but devoid of violent crime than a violent nation where white collar crime did not exist.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

momentarily you will be chastised for celebrating death.

Well you should be really. Chestbeating over the execution doesn't really solve anything - except to highlight the bloodlust of individuals. I expect it gives the families of the victims little more than a scant, empty feeling of comfort.

Were wiping this scum off the face of the earth, no need for a high road.

Although I am not opposed to the death penalty, I don't think it is something to be celebrated. I won't waste an ounce of emotion on the man.

Hes getting a big fat serving of justice, thats reason enough for me to celebrate.

That is what the justice system has determined is the correct penalty for his crime and presumably it has been properly carried out but personally I can't see any reason to celebrate. The system of capital punishment poses many more ethical problems than it solves.

I guess it makes more sense to people who believe that once one dies, one is brought before an infallible justice system. That doesn't work for me at all. All it does is prove to me how woefully short of critical thinking our society is.

I don't celebrate it as "in yo face you SOB!" - I support it because the dude isn't going to do it again. In the death sentence, there is no bail, no bond, no parole, no probation, and no repeat offenses. You can't deny it is a deterrent, and you cannot come up with any evidence that shows that execution creates more murderers.

In reference to BY wondering why he "snapped": he didn't snap. He planned it out and took people out one by one. It was driven by his radical islamic influences.

Just like Hasan at Ft. Hood - Obama says some people just "snap". No, he didn't snap either. He was inspired by the same radical imam that some of the 911 hijackers were, and he met with the same radical imam over 20 times. He was just waiting either for the gumption, or the opportunity to do what he had in the back of his mind for a long time. There was no snapping.

Oh joy, your post is full of inferences to justifications that I have never made nor do I intend to. Terrific.

Those are your reasons for supporting capital punishment. Good for you have at it. They have nothing whatsoever to do with my reasons for being against it, not one thing.

Corruption can be easily nipped in the butt. Once you are dead, you are dead. Once a person is a victim of crime, they are scared for life. Once a community turns to ######, it's almost impossible to make normal again.

Murder and violence is why so many from developed countries never want to step a foot in the US. City after city is now overrun with ghettos. The only places that are not, as mentioned earlier, are those states were less than 2% of the population is considered a minority. The problem I have with you guys is that you deny this reality. You say nope, if the equivalent population was Indian and Chinese (vs US minorities), they too would be gang bangers; which is simply not true.

I say take him out and shoot him in the head, then charge all his relatives for the ammo!!!

Sure - absolutely nothing wrong with collective punishment and blaming the crimes of the individual on the person's relatives

In point of fact, the wife of the guy in question was actually in hiding for fear for her life - because the guy (her ex-husband) had supposedly threatened to kill her and it was believed that killing her was the reason that he went on the shooting spree.

Nobody knows his motive for the killings. I'd rather keep him alive, locked up for the rest of life in the hopes that eventually he would help shed some light onto why he did it.

Good grief you people are helpless. We know why he did it.

If the suggestion is that this had something to do with terrorism there was no evidence of that. The guy cited Bin Laden in the same breath as character's from The Matrix.

It might be that he intended it as some sort of copycat thing, but the guy himself had no direct links to terrorist groups - he was likely deluded and criminally insane.

The liberal definition of a terrorist. Only someone with direct links to organized terror.

Thats like saying, only people with ties to organized crime can be called criminals.
