I arrived over a year ago on a K1 and my (now) husband and I were married within the required 90 days.

I've just been looking thru some of the forms that need to be filled out regarding AOS

with the I-485, Part 2 Application Type, it says ".... (Attach a copy of the fiance(e) petition approval notice and marriage certificate)

I got a couple of letters whilst I was still in Australia, one from memory was to say that he had lodged the petition, another might possibly

have been a notice to say the petition had been approved, and a letter re my K1 visa interview at the US Consulate in Sydney Au.

I didnt keep the ones to say he had lodged the petition or it had been approved etc.. I didn't realise I was required to keep them,

thought they were just run of the mill letters 'courtesy' letters.

How would I go about getting copies of these things, how important are they in the whole AOS process?

I just figure if I need them, then I better get a started on trying to get copies of them so I can submit them as required with any of the

necessary paperwork.

TIA

Any help/info appreciated :):)

They are wanting you to attach a copy of the NOA2 that would have been sent to your husband right after the petition was approved. The document that they are asking for was never sent to you.

Ahhh.. ok.. I'm pretty sure I spotted that in the filing cabinet the other week when I was looking for some unrelated paperwork for something else.

Is there anything in the way of paperwork/letters that would have been mailed to me, that I should have kept (and might not have)?

I just remember I had so much going on at the time (daughter is special needs), that my head was in 50 million places at once for quite a while beforehand

and I had sooo much to cut down in the way of belongings for the move n that, unless someone were to have said to me at the time "You Need To Keep This Letter/Paper"

then chances are I possibly wouldnt have hung onto whatever it is :(

I just want to make sure we have all the necessary and correct documents that we will need to submit, and if not then I need to find out where/how we would hunt up

copies of them.

Thanks for your help :):)

The only other thing would be your vaccination records and medical forms received when you went to the medical before your interview. You will have to meet with a civil surgeon before you send the paperwork in and from what you had said it being over a year..you will have to have another medical exam by a civil surgeon in your area where you live now. There is a link under the guides where you can put in a zip code and it will tell you. That is the only other thing that I can think of.

Thanks :)

They didnt give me any of the report etc from the medicals that daughter and I had prior to leaving, that was all sent direct to the US Consulate in Sydney by the examining doctor, due to daughter's medical stuff so they sent hers and mine together directly to them, I didn't take them to the Visa interview, they already had all the medical info there on the day.

I do have vaccination paperwork for both of us though, and daughter has since had more vaccinations since we arrived (she had to complete the cervical cancer vaccine course - which she has)

and she has had other vaccinations for school entry etc (her pediatrician has anything like that on record here though so that is ok)

and I will look into civil surgeons in our area re having new/current medicals done.

tyvm for you help :)

We just want to start to get it all sorted out at this stage :):)

Has been such a busy 12+ months and soooooooo much to get used to in regards to being in a new/different country.

My friends and family back in AU say to me.. what is there to get used to, it's an English speaking country so ..?

And its' impossible trying to explain to them, ok Yes! it is an English speaking country but it is still soooo different, banks/credit cards/mortgages etc are all completely different, having to learn and find your way around a whole new locality that you are living in.. trying to learn the 50 states and roughly where they are, different holidays and days of national significance, totally different road/driving rules, even grocery shopping is a challenge lol coz of the all the products being different to what one might be used to being able to buy. I might get over the culture shock.. one day :):)
