My fiance & I have decided to road trip it, and drive to Montreal(from Windsor). We'll leave real early Thursday & spend the day driving. Do the interview Friday & drive to Toronto after it. Stay at my parent's place, then head the rest of the way back Saturday or Sunday.

Gosh, I'm so excited-nervous. Do they allow barf bags in the consulate? :P

Same here!

The train from Windsor (or Chatham) to Toronto then Montreal was about 10hrs... The bus would be around there too.

Figured we'd hoof it and drive to Montreal first thing on Thursday.

Awesome

If you see a black Chevy HHR with Michigan plates, honk & wave!!

As long as they have a bathroom I'm good. My bowels get all wonky when I'm nervous. I won't be having breakfast before the interview, that's for sure.

This is probably more information that any of you ever wanted to know about me.

You're not the only one.

Shall I bring sickness bags?

Haha, will do!

I'm scared, though. Ben usually drives real fast... and I don't think my poor Focus will be able to handle that!

I was just wondering about getting from the airport to that hotel next to the consulate (La Tour Centerville)...I read somewhere about the shuttle bus going downtown MTL but then how do we get from there to the hotel? Is there another bus to hop on?

Any ideas? ;) all suggestions appreciated...

Mikey -- I am too brain dead to pull up the map of Montreal right now but if theres a subway in the airport or near the airport (and chances are, there is or a transit bus that takes you to the main subway line), you can easily take the subway. Its really cheap and quite nice and they have automated signs that tell you the station so you dont have to panic if you cant speak French like me

I noticed two subway stops very near the consulate and La Tour Centerville.

Thanks darkchilde...same here, me no speak French ;)

I have a question about the envelope.

Does it HAVE to be express post?

Or can it be the PriorityTM Next A.M envelopes?

And is the large envelope "Large size measuring 30.5cm x 39.4cm" the right size?

We're just really pressed for time after the interview that I really need it by Nov 18th, 19th at the very latest.

Oh, and is Quebec to Ontario "regional" or "national"?

Quick question about birth certificates --

Are they taking the original birth certicates or will they accept a copy?

If its the latter, do I need to get it notarized *wince*

And to get things notarized here is about $50 -- you guys have any suggestion where I can get it cheaper?

Finally married... and still married... ;)

I think I have a certified copy of my birth registration, which is the same thing as a long form.

I ordered it off one of the government websites.

I got it from here:

Ok Question,

Varba added me to his bank account in the summer so I could get my own debit card n stuff.

On his bank statements it says my name. Is this going to be a problem at the interview?

I don't think so. My husbands has his Dad's name on his account (to get a better rate/no monthly fee) and they never mentioned anything. It could've technically been his Dad's money.

I guess I'm just worried they'll think that we're already married or something.

I'm not sure about the priority A.M. thing. I think I've heard of others using it before, but I can't remember a user name or even when this was. The size seems right. And between Quebec and Ontario it is regional. Any other provinces need the national one.

They will take your original BC and a copy at the paperwork desk and give it to your CO to review. After the interview he/she is supposed to give the original back and keep the copy. If you don't get it back at the end of the interview ask for it! Sometimes they just forget.

Ok Question,

I wouldn't think so. If you were on there as Mrs. Peachey Varba than maybe, but otherwise I don't think that is any kind of prof you are married. If anything it might make the CO think you were taking up residence in the US, but you haven't been living there and that's not really hard to argue against and prove. Is it possible to avoid presenting any bank statements? Just so it doesn't come up at an issue. We didn't bring any to our interview.

Oo ok, we have a letter from his employer stating how long he's worked there, his job title and how much he makes, his W2 from last year and his I-134. If that's enough, we won't bring bank statements.
