Hello all,

My fiance will be sponsoring me on our K1 app. Im disabled and medically retired by my own country here in England.

Im worried about the medical aspect of the whole process.

I am diagnosed with a few health problems the main being an arthritis systemic sclerosis. Will they look into this?

or will they just need a simple letter saying im stable as can be expected? Or am i going to be made to jump through hoops!...ugh *hopes not*

Also i would like to ask if there is a list of vaccinations i should be up to date on?

Finally...I have been a single parent for many years..My sons father has no access rights whatsoever. He did fight in court but was refused all access.

To take my son out of england and move to america to marry my fiance, will i need to provide the embassy proof? if so what sort of proof..i dont have anything to prove i am my sons only legal parent. Although a trip to my solicitor could rectify that. But if it is not needed then i can save myself the trouble on that side.

Thanks for any replies!

Your medical concerns are not an issue. They pretty much confine themselves to communicable diseases. Unlike UK we do not force our citizens, through confiscation of earnings, to pay for other people's medical problems, so, for now, the medical exam is to protect the US population from diseases which are contagious. No telling what the future holds if Obama gets his communist medicine program passed.

Measles, mumps, rubella, HPV (if under age 27) Some are saying a swine flu shot is now require, I have not seen where that is true. Chickenpox vaccine if "age appropriate"

Yes, you will need a court order of sole custody with transport privileges for the child OR death certificate of the father ( ) OR a letter from the father stating the child may reloacte permanently to the United States. If the court order you have gives you sole custody and allows you to leave the country without the permission of the father, you are good to go!

Thats good to know about the medical issues. Sure i can understand about anything communicable! No worries there =)

Looks like im up to date on the jabs although i think my son may be behind. As for swine flu, well here in England it is that time of year for our yearly flu jabs for high risk patients. I get that every year due to my conditions *this friday*

I did ask about swine flu when they contacted me with my normal flu jab appt. But the secretary said that they are not currently offering that here. If and when they do i will be contacted due to the risk category i am in.

So if the embassy is expecting that..well i cant have what my country currently is not offering.

I have no court order papers saying i have sole custody. There is no chance of contacting the father..due to domestic violence issues i had with him. Looks like my best bet would be to contact my solicitor and get something in writing saying this man has no access rights to my son, that he applied and lost his case. Hopefully this would be enough?

My son is 15 now. I have been his sole guardian for 14 years so alot of time has passed.

Eventhough he was denied access he still has to pay child support. So im not sure where i stand on this.

You will need something official saying you can remove the child without the permission of the father. Also, email the consulate. There is a cut off age for this which depends on the country. In Ukraine it is 16 years old. If UK is similar, then you may not need it at if your son will be 16 anytime soon. He would need to be above the cut off age at the time of the interview, NOT the petition filing.
