I will point out that I have many fans here.

You haven't been on VJ very long, have you? This place is like middle school, all your "friends" can turn on you in an instant.

I'm living proof of that. You should see the scars.

Living? We didn't succeed then, yet...

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Ah the 'follow me about' ploy. Most amusing but not very original. Try again, perhaps you'll come up with something good next time?

*sigh* i'm still hoping that one day you'll post something relevant.

Joseph, to your credit, I do notice you being a lot more civil as of late, but you really brought a lot of attention on yourself for the way you posted when you were a noob's noob.

It looks to me like you are maturing into just a noob, which is encouraging. :) There is hope.

can we please go back to talking about maternity leave and prostate cancer? it was so much more exciting.

As per maternity leave, the US system is fvcked up. Not too long ago Nessa had to use her FMLA leave in lieu, because the system only gives her 3 weeks, which is a #%#%^ joke. AND they gave her a hard time, since they said maternity was no grounds for FMLA

The problem I have with maternity leave is (and i have seen this on so many occasions - seems to happen everywhere i work) when a woman returns from maternity leave she gets fired.

I know its against the law, but they don't blame it on the maternity leave. They'll say something like "Ohh we're making cuts, or blah blah blah."

I don't think its right.

omfg, I agree with you.

In Mexico, the deal was even more fvcked up. Back when I lived there, say the 80's... they would actually NOT hire you if you were pregnant, and they would REQUIRE a pregnancy test... pretty ugly ####### I tell you. That has since changes. And even there the mat leave there is more gracious: 40 days before, 40 days after birth. Much more better than here for sure. Some employers let you have it all after, 80 days after birth. And the law is really cracking down of employers who don't comply. this with a kick, they are all about traditional family, god forbid you are a pregnant lesbian or a single mamma...)

Canada now, that is a joy. The last University Bren taught at worked like this: female gets one year. oh yeah baby. MALE gets time off up to 3 months I think. That is what I call promoting family bonding. My sombrero goes out to them Canucksz.
