Hey all :D

Well we are busy busy looking at land to buy sometime in the very near future.

We plan to open a sanctuary rescuing New World primates, and a few other exotics.

We want to buy an area of rural land betwen 50-100 acres in size, and just wanted to hear from a few of you guys on your experiences of places in the country.

Our criteria are that we need a good warm climate, so anywhere in the north is out! Reasonably priced land, and preferably not too far located from a metro city or area. We will rely mainly on volunteers and donations, so need to be located where there are people with the frame of mind to want to come work for us or volunteer with us, and where there are some health food stores or the like who would be willing to donate excess stocks.

But any input with regards to states, and/or county will be much appreciated!

Maybe New Mexico?

My concern would maybe be the dryness- im assuming its a pretty dry climate? That can cause discomfort and health issues for the monkeys. I have never been there, but we also want somewhere with a lot of greenery. Ideal would be Florida- just without the land prices!!!

Have been particularly looking at georiga, virginia, alabama and mississippi so far. Somewhere near Norfolk, VA would be sweet. Peta headquarters is there, so we would have a good chance of getting volunteers and donors. But havent come across any land in the surrounding areas yet
