So, today is the day they reset the game. I now have a cunning strategy for world domination, mwah, mwah, mwah...

Some observations:

  • it's much better to start in remote areas where no-one can see you - stay away from cities, at least initially
  • always buy $1m streets - the longer, the better
  • always buy $50,000 green houses - they pay back exactly $50,000
  • another reason to build small - the more you build, the more chance cards you get
  • another reason to build small - most players won't waste a demolition card on a crappy $50k house
  • keep your streets full - leave no room for prisons, factories and sewage works

Some annoyances:

  • when you have a lot money, you tend to get a lot of "government fined you $xxx" cards. Last night I got fined $4m twice in a row!

A legitimate way to get extra cash:

  • if you're out of money, keep selling your $50k houses and building new ones. They sell for $25k, so you waste 1 house for a chance to get a $$$ chance card (investment paid off - $100k, police catch someone trying to bulldoze one of your buildings - $250k, entrepreneur of the year - $500k). If you have no money, you will never get a "government fine" card.

A semi-legal/illegal way to get extra cash:

  • open multiple accounts and transfer money from one account to another by selling a cheap street to yourself for millions of $$$

More observations:

  • you get paid at midnight GMT (8pm EST). People demolish and sabotage stuff during the day, so don't start building until 7pm EST. You can quickly clear any hazards or rebuild bonus buildings and your opponents won't have time to sabotage them again. The important thing is to get paid.
  • if you demolish someone's building, they might retaliate. The only way to find you is to add you as a friend - the Alerts page doesn't provide a link to your profile. To make their life more difficult, use foreign characters in your login name - for example, a cyrillic "A" instead of a Latin one.

I pretty much go along with all the points you made. The only thing I would add though, is that if you do get sabotaged, and you do not have any money to buy/build (in order to get chance cards) it's a good plan to sell some of your houses on the sabotaged street and then rebuild them on another street. Wild doing that, you may well get a chance card that you can use to bulldoze the hazard building.

I also think you need to build a large street portfolio (unless they change the way you can look at your enemies streets) because it's a pain in the ####### to look through bunches of five streets when someone has several hundred, and strategically place some of your hot property streets way at the back.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

A couple of things:

  • (I'm sure you know this one.) Bonus buildings can be demolished - they only protect other buildings, not themselves
  • You can add a bonus building to a street with hazards and you will still get paid! If someone placed 4-5 hazards on your street, sometimes it's easier to ignore them and just build a bonus building there.

Yeah, that's a good one :)

I did not know that. So, if someone places a hazard, you can post a bonus building onto that street and it immediately counteracts the hazard? I wonder if they will keep that?
