Ok, so I am just getting mentally started with this whole process. I am a planner so I want to have all my affairs and documents in order before I initialize the process. I have some financial things to handle as well. Here is my question. Will my fiance be able to use his tourist visa if he recieves a K-1 visa? He just got his tourist visa renewed for the next ten years and I have been trying to read around about whether or not his toursit visa will no longer be usable. Can he only have once visa at a time? Can he come here while waiting on the fiance visa? If we receive the K-1, will he have to use it the next time he enters the US or can he just use his tourist visa? I am not sure if I am in the right forum but I would appreciate any help in this matter. Thanks, this site has been very helpful in helping me get this thing started!

Also, we have a date in mind of July of next year. I am worried that we won't be able to get married on that date if all things are not completed in time. What is everyone else experience in that department?

Any B-1/B-2 (visitor for business/pleasure, i.e., tourist) visa will be cancelled by the consulate upon issuance of a K-1 visa.

He can come here while waiting on the fiance visa; however, entrance to the US is never guaranteed—he must prove to the border inspector's satisfaction that he intends to leave the US before his status expires. A pending application for a fiance visa presupposes immigrant intent, which raises the bar for visitor admission. It can be done, but it's important to be aware of the issues.

Once the K-1 is issued, his next entry to the US will be on that visa. It can't just be kept "in his hip pocket" and used on any entry he chooses—which is further mooted by the cancellation of the visitor visa upon K-1 issuance.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.
