US Passport and Social Security Card

I applied for my US passport right after the oath taking yesterday. The clerk gave me a copy of my Naturalization certificate and sent the original to I guess the National Passport Center. It's my assumption that I should be receiving the original back after I get my US passport..

In the mean time is it possible to take the copy to the SS to do the status change? Or do I need to wait for the original?

You will need the original to update your SSN.
