I hope you all don't mind if I ask you how my fellow Brits went about getting their Police record in the UK?

I have ages of waiting left in this process but I thought I could be proactive in chasing this up.

Any help you can give me would be much appreciated x

Might as well apply now, it takes pretty much the full 40 days.

Police Certificate - To obtain a Police Certificate in the UK, go to your local police station and request a form called "Subject Access". Send send this with the ten pounds fee to the Data Protection Officer of the police force for the area you are resident in. This form is then sent by the police to Scotland Yard and the results are supplied to the individual requesting them within a statutory 40 day time limit. If you're waiting for your certificate try 0171-230-3751 to see what state it's at.

Go to the US London embassy website and it will direct you to the correct site to download the form you need. You will then need to take it to a local police station. You will need at least two forms of photo ID and they will finish filling it out and send it off. It then will be mailed direct back to you. It takes around 35 to 50 days to get it back. here is the link to the US London embassy

NO you can not. YOu will be assigned a medical appointment when you receive packet 4 from the embassy. There are only two places in UK where it can be done. London, Birmingham. The web site also details how that works.
