My fiancee and I just got married July 11th. We live in Austin Texas. I want to get her a social security card and state issued ID.

I waited to get her identification because of the name change.

What exactly do we need to get her identification? The Passport, Marriage Cert anything else?

She arrived here on a K-1 Visa May 23rd. Do we have to file for AOS before she gets her IDs? I read somewhere that people had trouble getting their SSN because they didn't have a EAD. IS this true? Any info would be very helpful.

I have read the FAQs but I am kind of confused on the order of things and what to do. Thank you.

Congratulations...

If her I-94 has at least 14 days left (valid) - she can apply for the SS card (go to the SSA office off Hwy 290) best to apply for the SS card under her maiden name, then after you get the PR/Green Card, go back and get the name changed as well as the DHS Authorization annotation removed. Path of least resistance.

You very likely won't be able to get the Texas ID/Driver's License until she has her EAD at least (definitely when she gets her PR/Green Card).

Hope that helps a bit...
