The Fourth of July is upon us and almost everyone won’t be working Friday and that makes this weekend a long one. No doubt many of us will fire up the grill and enjoy the steak and potatoes and pancit and chardonnay and wait for the skies to be glittered with fireworks as nighttime falls. Some of us might go the beach or to the casino or to the amusement park or what have you.

As for me, my husband and I are driving to San Diego to temporarily escape from the heat of the desert sun. We’ll stop by the Indian casinos on the way and our sights are also set on Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. We’ll also visit his cousin who just came in from Nueva Ecija. We also yearn for a short drive to Baja from San Diego but I might not be able to reenter the US without the proper papers.

How about you? What will you be doing to pass the time and celebrate America’s birthday?

Good for you. This is the second 4th of July for me. I have work on Saturday until 11pm. We might go and see the fireworks Friday night.

Hokey Smoke!

Rocky: "Baby, are they still mad at us on VJ?"

Bullwinkle: "No, they are just confused."

Haaaay not much here in New England because the fireworks display is canceled at a later date because of the "kj" heavy rains. Just eat out maybe and watch concert of my husband's band. No big celebration.

Golly! We aim to go hog wild today here at the old plantation, with the picnic table set with grilled top sirloin marinated in mesquite, corn on the cob, adobo, peaches, and other goodies. And some moonshine to chase, of course. :star:

Happy Birthday America! Happy 63rd birthday also to the Republic of the Philippines!

The South shall rise again!

I'm the hope that lives within him after storm clouded days.

The freedom from war that gives wings to his heart,
