How long do I have for AOS before they ask again?

Hello, I just sent in my AOS papers for qualifing my income for 2008. But I am taking my time on paying for the fees due to recession here in the U.S. I have been told that i have up to a year before I go to the next phase.

I am going in a few weeks over to see my wife in the philippines. It's been almost two years since I have seen her. Plus I want to talk to her about the next phase whether this is a good time to continue the process or drag it on a little till things pick up here. I am pretty scared about bringing her over right now since I am barely making myself. To be honest, I don't even know if it's realistic at this point since I only make around $300.00 per week due to a ex-wife sucking a large portion of my paycheck out for at least another year until kid turns 18 yrs old next July.

So, since I qualified for 2008 on my taxes, over a period of time if I don't do this pretty soon, I imagine they might want some current paystubs. Is this correct?

thanks,

martinbr
