Hi!

I wanted to ask if it would be okay to send letter from my brother in law attesting my husband and I marriage. Will it be a problem to send affidavit from family member. Also, they require 2 letters - can I go ahead and send the one from husband's brother if that's all I have or not send any letters at all?

And..for last name ..I kept my maiden name and added my husband's name..so now I have 2 last names..do I write this under last name? and then still include my maiden name under "other names used (including maiden name)"? i wanted to keep my maiden name so in all my paperwork i have maiden name and husband's name as my last.

thanks in advance for any answers.

I would think the affidavit from your brother in law would be fine. just remember it has to be signed in front of a notary public, so it's not just any letter.

Of course you can also add copies of birthday cards sent to you both (of the envelopes showing postage, not the card per se)

The way to go about the names:

I applied for my CR1 under my married name, placing my maiden under "other names used". However, my GC came out to my maiden name since it is the one on my passport. As long as you write them both, you should be perfectly fine.

I was approved and I did not send any notarized letters from family / friends. As I understand it, they are not mandatory.

02-18-2009 - I-751 filed (Removal of Conditions)

02-20-2009 - NOA1

03-20-2009 - Biometrics Appointment

03-23-2009 - Touched

06-22-2009 - Removal of Conditions approved (via USPS)

07-01-2009 - Email from USCIS advising of approval

07-06-2009 - Received 10-yr Permanent Resident Card

That is if you have like tons of other evidence. Affidavits are secondary me thinks. But that's just my opinion :P

I don't know if there are formularies for the affidavit :(

Agreed. But I did not submit half as much as what many others did. I think the best proof, more than anything, is that of sharing of finances, based on the theory that people will usually only share their hard-earned cash with someone they are in love with!!

Thanks Len!

I was wondering, is there a sample of an affidavit letter? I want to see what they are looking for/sort of a tamplate?

Thanks again!

Here's the link to the sample affidavit of support. Modify as you think. It's just a sample. I modified it according to my need.

Also try to include credit card if they joined or separate as well. Driver's license showing same address. Car payment/loan, care registration and itineraries of travels together if you can find onilne or otherwise would be really good. With USCIS more ammo, the better it is.

Read the following for complete list of documents.

For taxes include 2006-2008 tax transcripts from IRS. Call them they can either fax it to you or mail it to you (which takes 2 weeks). If you gonna include returns then you have include W2 etc.

Hope it helps.

Good Luck.
