I HAVE ALSO POSTED THIS ON K3 FORUM (just FYI)

Dear Friends.........advice needed.........

I have received the letter from NVC stating I129 approved and packet will be forwarded to my wife in india

I am now planning to do the CR1, but timeline might be an issue if I don't get the paperwork through via NVC to get a CR1 interview date on time to cancel K3. Any advice?

At what stage can I call NVC and let know about my situation and what can I say to them that I would like to pursue the CRI...... is cancelling K3 to pursue CR1 an issue? Can I and should I cancel K3?

- NVC case number has been assigned for my i130 case. For what automated message on NVC phone can I email DS-3032 and start requesting the IIN. I hope the sending the Agent choiec via email works?

- Do I have to send originals of the documents with DS-230? I am little worried about sending originals, can I sent certified by the Indian government copies to th NVC? did anyone have success with sending the certified copies?

- Any experience with Mumbai embassy? average time to get CR1 interview once NVC receives NOA2?

Thanks

Best Wishes for you and all your loved ones

Yes, you need to obtain all documents and send in ORIGINALS to nvc.

With DS 230, you will send both all ORIGINAL document and copies of those documents. You will get original back at interview in Bombay.

You will need original birth certificate, marriage certificate, police clearnace from district superintendent, passport clearance, 2 beneficiary visa photos, biographic and other US visa stamped pages of the passport....everything original except passport copy is only okay.

For I-129, All of the communication will come from US embassy in India. In my case we received an appointment letter via email and beneficiary received the interview document by mail in India.

If you got both I-129 and I-130 approved at the same time and you have all the documents in your hands - i would go with CR-1 route. With CR-1, the person lands US as a permanent resident.

In my case both got approved on the same day and i waited till NVC case to complete for CR-1 and then i emailed Indian - US embassy saying that we are opting out from I-129.

Sample email to cancel i-129 : find out the email address from Mumbai US embassy website.

Hi Keralian NY and others,

I got my I129f and I130 approved on march16th 2009 and my case was forwarded to mumbai consulate on Apr 8th2009.My IR1 is near completion at NVC and I dont want to continue with K3 so my question is should I email mumbai consulate to cancel K3 or wait for case completion here.

My husband did not get any packet 3 from mumbai so he emailed them on april 22nd 2009 ,they emailed him a letter with instructions to download packet 3 and send but as we decided not to pursue it ,we never send packet 3 back to the consulate .

So we dont have any Interview letter from mumbai consulate yet as we didnt send packet 3 back.Do we still have to write to them thet we would like to pursue IR1 or K3 would cancel by itself?

Anyhelp is greatly appreciated.

Thanks and all the best in your journey
