i forgot what was the airport closest to the embassy..but it sure is still far compared to if you're going to take the train...When I had my interview I was going to take the plane but I found out that the train station was just 10 minutes walk to the embassy...saves me money from taking the taxi...and train is cheaper too.. although it's about 4 1/2 hours from toronto but it's all worth it.

The airport is formerly known as Dorval, now it's called PET (Pierre Elliot Trudeau) AKA "YUL".

The Montreal consulate is approx. 1/2 hour drive, you'll have to take a taxi or a shuttle bus to the city. Did you book a hotel as well? You could see if your hotel offers a shuttle. I hope you feel better soon!

I am flying into YUL, my flight arrives late so I am taking a taxi approximate cost for taxi one way to d/t Montreal is 40.00. I booked my hotel on Hotwire it is a 3.5 star and was $66.00 a night US. I will be 1.5 miles from the consulate but a walk in June will not hurt me at all.

When is your interview?

Good luck,

Janet

If the hotwire hotels are not named until after you book them but you can pretty much figure it out if you check the website www.betterbidding.com. Most of them are walking distance from the embassy.

When I did my medical in Montreal I took a bus from the airport. It cost less then $3.00 (I can’t remember exactly how much). It let us off near one of the metro stations downtown. So you could then get on the metro for a couple more dollars and go to your hotel from there. It might be a pain if you have a lot of bags with you - but if you’re trying to save on expenses it’s something to consider. Make sure you have exact change for the bus though.
