Filling in the G-325A

Im just starting to fill in my G-325A and wanted to clarify on the whole details about the 'last 5 years' thing - Ive spent alot of time travelling, so should I just put 'backpacking' under the street and number column, and then add the dates from and to in the date column? And the same under the employment details? Should I list which countries I visited or any other details, or do you think that just stating I was travelling will be sufficienct? Any advice would be most welcome as its not too clear from the example form.

Even while you were traveling you should have had a permanent address which was considered your residence. Your parent's house maybe? Wherever your mail, bills, etc. went.

As far as the employment, simply put unemployed and for what dates.

really? cool - thats alot simpler. They won't want to know about 11 month trips in Australia or living in Eastern Europe for 5 months at this point then? My parents home was my billing and mailing address all that time so I think I can put that for the last 5 years then They wont see a copy of my passport (with all the stamps in it) and kick up a stink will they?!

Well, traveling is a very valid and legal thing. If they want to know more about it, they'll ask. If you are really concerned about it, fill in the questions as we said to, and then add a supplement mentioning the places you were visiting and your lengths of stay. But I wouldn't say it's necessairy at all. A lot of people travel, just as long as you were doing it legally, it shouldn't be an issue.

The G-325A is to the immigration process as the appendix is to the human body - it supposedly had a purpose somewhere back in history, but today no one knows what that purpose was.

Keep is simple and just report your 'permanent address' as other responders have suggested.
