I am new on these boards so don't know all the information in detail yet. I read a lot of these threads and find that people on here seem to be very helpful. I hope you can give me some good advice too.

I met my boyfriend in South Africa (He is American) 4 years ago. He was working in South Africa at the time.

His South African work permilt expired so he had to return to the USA.

I have been visiting him in the US by travelling back and forth for the past 3 years and lately we have been talking about getting married so that I don't have to travel back and forth anymore.

Is it possible for me to apply for K1 visa status while I am here in the USA on a B2 (vacation) visa?

What is the quickest, legal way to do this?

Thanks :)

You can apply while being there, read the guides for info on doing it, but you´ll have to return home for the packet 3 and interview and you can´t overstay your visa under no circumstances. Good luck. :)

Yes it's perfectly fine to file while you are here. My fiance and I did back in November of 05 while he was here for a visit. Lots of other people have also done it.

Good luck

Just to clarify, you're not the one who will be sending in the I-129F... Your fiance is going to be the one who needs to sign/complete the paperwork as the petitioner on your behalf... He is the petitioner. You are the beneficiary.

Be sure you use the revised form... and check the instructions for the supporting documentation you/he will need. Hopefully you have everything you may need with you...

Good luck!!

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.
