It's up to Pakistan,if they allow Dual citizenship. Holding a US citizenship does not bar you from holding a citizenship from another country. You might want to check with the Pakistani Embassy or Consulate. I know places like India offer a card, that allows their citizens to travel freely between the US and India, they how every are no longer citizens of India.

Keeping US and PK citizenship is perfectly fine with both countries. What you need to do is the following:

1) When you enter Pak from US, give PK immigration your US passport and NIC card, so they give you a visa upon entry, not sure how long this visa is valid for, you would have to ask.

2) When you leave PK for US, show them your US passport, it should have an entry stamp into PK otherwise you can expect a lot of haggling with immigration officers/jahils there.

Second option is you can just get a 10 year PK visa on your US passport which would save you from the burden of carrying your NIC

Third option is you use your pak passport to enter PK indifinitely and then use your US passport to come back but there can be a problem with this method especially if the IO there is looking to give you a hard time, they are just jerks in Pakistan. THey said to that my passport was fake, my freaking US passport was fake but luckily my dad is well connected in PK so I had a FIA inspector giving me protocol when he saw the other officer haggling all what he said to him "Let him go he is XXX cousin" from then the other officer attitude changed to SIR

so yea dude PK is the most unreliable. I would recommend just getting a 10 yr visa on u r US passport

Using NIC in pak and then entering US on a US passport is no problem at all. They cannot refuse you entry, however they will most definitely send you for secondary inspection and ask you stupid questions for 5-10 minutes but nothing to worry about it. Just dont get intimidated and dont act smart. Answer "Specifically" do not volunteer any more information then asked otherwise it will just elongate the interview.

btw if you are looking for examples of what are stupid questions here are some that i was asked:

1) how was your training?

Ans: What training?

how was your training in afghanistan?

Ans: I went to Pakistan not afghanistan and I was there on vacation

pakistan afghanistan same thing, so you are sure you did not recieve any training?

I was there on vacation to see my grandmother

whats her address? did you just stay at her place ? write down the phone number

After I gave her the details, she made me wait 10 minutes and then called my name again and was like "you can go" but customs needs to see your baggage, I was like sure

The customs guy went through my luggage guess what he found lol dirty clothes and childhood pictures(I was afraid they would now think i m a child molestor but luckiliy those were my childhood photos with my family) the customs guy was nice, he was like dude grow up and you can go

If you want to avoid secondary screening, just get a visa, trust me buddy when I used my NIC and came back to US I was always send to secondary screening but after getting the visa it stopped.

its more like "Welcome to America"

LOL

Thanks loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot Fahad for the reply :)

some more t\houghts

Do at US side, they were concerned about dual citizenship?

Wouldn't using visa, Pak citizenship will be lost and if someone has personal property that will also be no more valid in Pak?

Can Pak citizenship be regained after using visa (like applying again for NIC)

Its sooo confusing...

thanks again

I really apologize for the late response but recently I have been so busy with my studies because of the final exams which are scheduled within a week or so. Anyway, US does not care if you have dual citizenship, they do not even bother looking at your other passport and to be honest when you enter US just show them your American passport.

About the visa and property, I do not have much information regarding that, however, I am sure you are aware of how things work in Pakistan. Do you really think the municipal department will come after your property and take it away because you are no longer a citizen of Pak? I dont think so lol they are too busy chewing tobacco and drinking tea in their offices. It will take them at least 10 years before they even realize oh you are not a citizen anymore. Unlike US, Pakistan authorities does not have all of its systems integrated and they work separately from each other.

I do not think you can regain citizenship once you forfeit it...but again since that is Pakistan we are talking about anything is possible lol. Official answer No until you can prove and establish extreme humanitarian reasons.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

My advice is seriously get a visa and just use your American passport, it will save you a lot of hassle.
