Hello all who are reading this. I guess i just need some guidence and confidence since ive never done this before. Here goes......

I met my fiance in Aug-Sep time frame of 2007 while I was deployed to the philippines. I am active duty army. She stayed with me while I was in Manila but not when i was at my outstations. I was there till February 08. Although I didnt think it was going to be like this, i didnt get much proof of a relationship just a bunch of pictures, but no dates on the pictures. We do have yahoo im chat conversations, cards I sent her and she sent me, mail with her name and address on it being sent to her when i was in the states, and ect.. simple stuff like that. Well it got serious after I finalized my divorce and we are looking into a K-1. I have all the paperwork completed. I have the original documents from the court for my divorce, and ect. I dont know if I have enough proof though since i never got anything dated.

Current situation is the fact that I am back in the philippines deployed again, and we have spent time together thank god after a long year wait. We managed to get a letter from the hotel stating that she was my guest for my entire stay and we also go a picture together in front of the hotel. So I think that is GOOD evidence. So when we get the film developed I will send the package in from here to vermont.

I guess my guidence would be wanted from someone in a similar situation. I will be here most of the year maybe till september or sooner. I dont think she will get her visa before I leave but we are crossing our fingers. We want to cover all our bases. She has out of her own money saved up P50,000. She works but doesnt make much. I was going to put another P50,000 in her bank account not sure if it matters. We are worried about the interview at the Embassy because we have heard bad things about the Manila Embassy. Especially with that CPL Smith case and peopel not liking us at the moment over here.

Well any information anyone can provide to maybe calm my nerves and hers will be welcome. I didnt really ask anything, I guess i wanted to get my situation out there, maybe to see if we even have a good chance at this K-1 thing since we are really lacking alot of evidence.

There have been many posts recently in the Philippines forum about interview experiences at the Manila embassy. (Actually, this thread should probably be moved there). They have all seemed very favorable and there were comments about how nice the COs were. The fact that you are in the US service should not be a detriment at the US embassy now should it?? Your fiancee will be interviewed by an American not a Filipino.

The amount of money your fiancee has will have no bearing at all on your approval.

Sounds like you have a very good start on the docs for proof of relationship. Even if the photos are not dated you can still put dates on them. Just write the dates on the back of the photos. As far as the like or dislike of americans and the USEM with the Smith case. Media often sensationalizes things and can make things much bigger than it really is. Yes there is some tension but taken into context only by a few people. Most filipinos still like americans. So your putting so fears into things that really do not play into your visa journey.

Best to just get focused on the paperwork you need to get done. Just my 2 cents.

Hello! I am from the Philippines and I just got the letter from the USEM saying our case is eligible for an interview. However, I am now sure if I need to call the embassy right away to set the appointment or do I still need to wait for another letter(checklist). How long it usually take? thanks!
