Hello All!

I'm just wondering if anybody could advise us how to change my name in my SS number..

I had my SSN taken care of last week. I applied using my married name and affixed it on my SS5 form.

Presented my I-94, passport, a copy of the page from the SSA (saying that K1 visas are allowed to get SSN and work without DHS authorization)

and our marriage certificate.

The lady there told us to come back today (Monday) to get my SS number.

Now, when I got my SS number, I was just wondering why it still has my single name.

Then, the lady there didn't even mention when should I need my picture taken for my SS card.

All she said is that I should come back with my adjustment of status approved and marital status changed.

For those, who already got their SSN, when did you had your photo taken after filing the SS5 form?

How many days will it take for the SS card be received?

Hope you could advise..

No photo needed for SSN. We got her card in less than one week. After you get your green card in married name, go back to the SS office and change your name. The number will stay the same, and it isn't critical to run down there the moment you get your green card. I would wait 2-4 weeks and let everything update in the USCIS records.
