What happens during the one on one counseling during the CFO?

The counselor just aks questions about the two of you and sometimes, asks to see pictures too. Pretty much the same as trying to see if there is a genuine relationship. Oh, and if the lady knows what she is getting herself into!(F)

Greetings Sherrif Uling. I remember recently during a discussion on SSN that you obtained Jens after 10days. I have the form for Mira and we will go to the SS office next week. What I want to know is what reason did you give on the application for requesting a SSN and was it just the I-94 and passport/visa you supplied? Thanks for a response.

Cliff.

Cliff,

You'll have to bring the I-94 and the passport/visa. They require two ID's. The passport and visa can be used as separate IDs (because they are two separate ID's). There is nowhere on the SS-5 application that specifically asks why you are applying for a SS Card. However, question # 3 (Citizenship), there are four choices: US Citizen, Legal Alien Allowed to Work, Legal Alien NOT Allowed to Work, and Other. You will choice Legal Alien Not Allowed to Work because we have not been issued a EAD, which you'll be apply for with the AOS. What's funny is that your wife's SS Card will state "Not Permitted to Work with DHS Authorization" at the very top. Once your AOS is approved, apply for another SS Card and that statement will be removed, but again, only after the AOS is approved.

Hope this helps...

Cheers!!!

Sheriff Uling

Thank you,,,,,Silly Girl......

Our problem is that-------mails from US and Manila Embassy are usually stolen in that area.

And I know that Packet 4 is just sent by ordinary mail.

My parents have no choice but to go to St. Luke's.

They need the Interview letter from Manila Embassy.

hello Sheriff Uling, and other VJ members,

I need your advice /help.

I called Manila Embassy and Lorraine agreed to send Packet 4 to St. Luke's for pick-up.

My parents were there (St. Luke's) on the day and time Lorraine specified (Window ____ ).

But the employees there asked my mom/dad to come back again. The clinic was overwhelmingly flooded with packet 4 from Manila Embassy. THEY CHOSE NOT TO LOOK FOR IT,,,,because of the many people inside.

Any suggestions on how to convince any St. Luke's employee to swim thru those enormous number of packets, and look for my parents'?

May I hear from the others who sent their Darlings to St. Luke's for pick-up of the packet?

I felt bad for sending my aging parents there.........it is HOT and HUMID in the Philippines right now.

And I did not want to make them tired. They were disappointed yesterday.

I would suggest calling St. Luke's beforehand just to be sure that they have the packet already. I went there when Lorraine told me to and they don't have the packet yet. I had to go back another day. But then again, calling St. Luke's and getting through are two different things  . I got the feeling that they don't really like to answer the phone. It was after the nth redial that someone answered.

Or, if possible, they can go early in the morning or right at noon. It gets a little slow at noon.

Another option is to just wait for the packet so as not to send them back there. All the forms in the packet are in the embassy's webpage and can be downloaded. The packet usually arrives a month after the emabssy sends it out (that was last year, i'm not sure if it takes longer now) so the wait for the appointment letter isn't that long.

Hope that helps somewhat. :)

Congratulations Jazzy about finally getting out of AR! Phew! :star:

Thanks for all the well wishes! We are doing great here. I was laid off from my job last Thursday so it's been a mixed blessing - I'm able to spend all this time with Jinky and Job, but I'm also a bit eager to land my next job. I won't be able to post on VJ as often as before but I'll try to pop in as much as possible and definitely keep everyone updated.

To all the recent approvals - a big congratulations! :star: Just know that you'll soon be together! It's really been soooo good to be together! No more having to call on the phone and try to express in words the love you have for each other. I feel spoiled with all the holding and kissing...just seeing their face in person everyday - their smile! :star:

Love is a beautiful thing! (F) AMEN!

Welcome Jinky and Job here in the USA. Hope to see you soon guys! Keep the love alive always!

Ingats,

ERIC and MARICHU

Like SillyGirl said, the CFO is pretty simple. If eirther of your are divorced/annulled, bring a copy of that. If your fiancee is between 18-21 bring a letter of consent from her parents. If between 22-25 bring a letter of advice and bring a couple of wallet size pics (not sure why they need them but they took them). I cant remember if they asked for the singledness (CENOMAR) or not. Good luck, Ken & Maria

Packet 4 is delivered through courier also, not postal mail. Mine was delivered by DHL and the guy asked to see my id/passport before he released it to me.

The time to really rush to have the interview letter is when they have interview and medical dates already and are planning on having the medical earlier than scheduled.

Maybe give it a little more time so as not to tire out your parents. It is really hot in Manila right now. But again, that's just me.(F)

Thank you, silly girl.....you are so right!

Anyway, just after you posted, my cousin emailed me saying that my parents finally got theirs at St. Luke's.

Whew!

That was a relief.

Yes, I wanted them to have the medical early..........you know......just in case......considering their ages.

( many years ago) My aunt was kept on hold for 3 mos because of an abnormal ECG report. Her interview sched was postponed until she was cleared by the Cardio doc.

And boy,,,,my parents are so confused right now on what to do first.

I call them 3x a day.

I want them to finish their Med. check-up asap. So they can concentrate on the Interview part.

Thanks so much for the response, silly girl. I'll send your detailed St. Luke's experience to them.

They did say, they already have the step by step flowchart (provided by St. Luke's).

I 've read yours and I liked it very much.

Francel
