Hi i'm Yazi... finally i'm with my moonlight now,adjusting to the cold weather and getting use to travel taking the express way... :D God is good!!! hope everybody will soon be with thier love ones too... its nice here....especially when your w/ your MAHAL.:)

But it was sad wasnt able to meet you in Manila airport, i was on the first plane during that day, the 9pm flight.

roy told me about u, he even gave me ur # but i was not able to call or text coz my daughter starts looking for food...i myt hve seen u there...i saw couple of filipina holding thier x-ray folders,its quite funny seeing many filipinos w/ that thing. :lol: hope we can see each other sometime... perhaps make the same schedule to visit the golden gate bridge he he he :lol: yeah ur right... just have to try enjoying the cold weather... :yes: take care too

yes thats right! lots of fiancees, fiances, first time immigrants travelling on that day. but i checked-in my X-ray film and im glad SFO doesnt ask that thing unlike Hawaii, coz its gonna be soo hard getting that film in the bottom of my clothes.

Where you located here in SF? would be nice to meet you up. never been to the golden gate bridge yet, maybe on Monday as we planned to meet Thersch and her fiance.

I had to pay the travel / airport tax when I was there last month. It is equilvant to $11.25 dollars.
So it is for everyone using Manila airport...

You're confusing the fees and taxes.

Terminal Fee (everyone pays): P550 (this is the $11.25 you paid)

Security Fee (everyone pays): P200

Travel Tax (only Filipinos pay): P1620

my letter from my employer states my hourly wage....Is that ok?

They will look at your W-2 and/or most recent tax return to determine income from what I understand. Do they state that you are full time or 40 hours a week?

The letter says that;

I work for BNSF and have worked there since 8/12/2002, and I currently hold a permenant position as a Truck Driver and my current hourly wage is $19.00 per hour.

The letter is on BNSF letterhead.....

Then I have w-2's for the last 4 years and tax transcripts for the last 4 years and 2006 tax return too...

Aloha to all. I have two quick questions to ask. Recently, we made a change to my fiancee reservations with PAL. Fortunately there was no change in the price of the air fare so we only paid the rebooking fee of just $25. We paid the rebooking fee at the PAL center in Makati. The PAL office issued her a paper ticket. My question is, will she be asked to pay the travel tax at the airport? I assume she still needs to. I paid the original eticket through expedia.com. My second question is that I've read on VJ the security fee of 200 pesos will go in effect at the beginning of the year but some members had left the country in Jan without having to pay the security fee in addition to the terminal fee of 550 pesos. Is the airport now charging this security fee? Mahalo!

1) If ticket was purchased from expedia , PAL should have made sure it collected the P1,620 travel tax when it re-issued the ticket. Are you sure you only paid the $25 rebooking fee? At any rate, just bring extra P1,620 in case they failed to collect it. Better still, call PAL at 855-8888 and ask them to retrieve your booking and ask them if the travel tax has been paid for.

2) The airport has started collecting the P200 additional fee.

We keep calling them, it has been 4 weeks now so we are preying it will be soon that this will all be over soon. There is still much worry WHAT IF OUR VISA IS REJECTED FOR APPROVAL.

We sincerely hope and pray for el's and jazzy's visa to be released soon.

Question- What is this travel tax? I bought her ticket directly from NorthWest. Is there more she has to pay? I know the airport fee is now 750php but is there something else?

To second Ken & Maria, if ticket was bought in the PI, the travel tax (paid only by Filipino citizens) is automatically included in the cost of airfare. Aside from P750/head terminal fee, I can't think of anything more to pay.

Thats weird. I have never paid that tax. Is this something that only Filipinos have to pay? What happens if they don't pay it? I just called NW and they said that all taxes have been included except the airport tax (750php tax). What is right?

Filipinos will not be allowed to leave without paying the travel tax. Luz and Robin's tickets were issued in Manila so rest assured that travel tax is paid. Airlines and travel agents are not authorized to collect airport tax. Airport tax can only be paid at the airport. Travel tax on the other hand, can be paid at the airport.

Yes it's a Travel Tax for Filipinos only, P1620. We paid it at the airport. Apparently you can get a one-time waiver but we couldn't figure out how to get it so we just paid the tax.

As far as I know, there is no waiver for Filipino citizens. However, there are travel tax exemptions available only to the ff:

Foreign diplomatic representatives

Employees of the United Nations (UN) Organization or its agencies

United States (US) Military Personnel

Filipino Overseas Contract Workers

International carrier crew

Filipino permanent residents abroad whose stay in the Philippines is less than one (1) year.

Philippine Foreign Service personnel assigned abroad and their dependents

Philippine government (excluding government-owned and controlled corporations) employees on official travel

Grantees of foreign government-funded trips

Students with approved scholarships by appropriate government agency

Infants (2 years & below)

Personnel (and their dependents) of Philippine offices of multinational companies not engaged in business in the Philippines

Those authorized by the President of the Republic of the Philippines

Balikbayans whose stay in the Philippines is less than one (1) year

Family members of former Filipinos accompanying the latter

Your employment letter sounds good. The embassy would only be interested that you have a permanent job and you're making above poverty level. They will be able to figure out anyway how much $19/hr makes in a month.
