x x x We were under the impression that it was not even possible to get official copies of the same clearance. x x x

Hi Mich,

I called NBI today to confirm if they issue extra copies and they said that it doesn't matter how many times people applied for NBI clearance as long as they paid for it. They understand that people sometimes need to have more than one copy for multiple job applications here and abroad.

Any advice on how to get a copy of the packet resent?

Joel,

We're not familiar with procedures for CR1 but you may want to call Dept. of State at (202) 663-1225 ext. 1,0,0 to ask if your wife will be receiving a packet anytime soon. Emphasize that she is CR1. Be ready with your case number before calling DOS.

Do let us know of developments in your case so that others taking the CR1 route can have a better understanding of the process. We've only had a few CR1 cases in this thread and the members were not active posters.

You may also want to check out www.asawa.org

Good luck.

Apparently for CR-1, I am the one to receive the interview letter only.

Joel

hi PW!

i was just wondering... there won't be any problem if we fill out the forms online and print it instead of using the forms that we got together with the packet?

there is a box for barcode but it's blank on the forms that we recieved and i'm not sure if the forms that we got are in any way tied to our case number. i don't think that's the case but hearing other people's opinion will be a great help. :)

Hello everyone!

I finished my medical at St. Luke's yesterday. Cost of the medical is PHP 5,035.00. For those who haven't done their medical yet, don't forget to bring your passport, 3 passport photos (one will be attached to your Patient Data Sheet and you will give two to the releasing counter with your passport), black ballpen, appointment letter and photocopy and old medical records. There is so much waiting involved so you have to be very patient, keep alert for your name to be called and bring food & water because you will not be able to go out for lunch.

Good luck to everyone. (F)

Audrey :)

It was wise of you to have gone at 11am. It saved you a lot of wasted time waiting.

Hi Joel,

How about the packet? Who gets to receive the packet for CR1 cases? Were you able to speak to a visa specialist at DOS?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

i was just wondering... there won't be any problem if we fill out the forms online and print it instead of using the forms that we got together with the packet? there is a box for barcode but it's blank on the forms that we recieved and i'm not sure if the forms that we got are in any way tied to our case number. i don't think that's the case but hearing other people's opinion will be a great help. :)

In my case, I did not use the forms that were in my packet. I filled up the forms on-line and had no problems at the embassy. When you print the on-line form, the space for barcode should also come out as blank.

correction pls its not 6/8/96 but 6/8/06 ty for being so patient in maintaining this list.

Oops! Good catch, rustyash. My fingers are getting "rusty" :D

Updated to reflect correction on rustyash's timeline.

Im back with another silly question  ....hehehe!!! I finally got all the documents to send to NVC but I while checking the checklist I got bothered..... I ask my husband to obtain a police clearance and I got them but it said on the checklist that the police clearance needs to cover the entire period of the applicants residence in that area but i cant find that in my husbands police clearance.

This are the list of the information given in his police clearance:

His name, address, date of birth, place of birth, findings saying he got no derogatory record, purpose of issuance, validity, his tax certificate no., date issued and where it is issued.

I really dont know if i need to ask him to go back and acquire another clearance where it states how long he's residing in the place where he lived in.

I hope somebody here could help me in my dilemma.......Im too close to lose my mind....hehehhe!!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi folks,

I was supposed to ask that question yesterday but I didnt find time to do that. Anyway, I just did the online filling up of forms (DS156 and DS157) last night but there's a generated barcode in it. I downloaded the file from this link.

Where did you download your forms PW?

Thanks.

Bianca,

We’re not familiar with CR1 cases. I was thinking that it’s you, the visa applicant who needs police or NBI clearance not your husband. But then again, CR1 is processed differently plus the new IMBRA law took effect adding a background check on the USC. You migh want to PM aussiewench. She went the CR1 route and is very knowledgeable and nice.

I’ll also try to do research.

did you sign the forms before going to the embassy or did you sign them in front of the consul? i read somewhere that you have to sign them in front of the consul.

There was one DS form that I signed in front of the consul. Follow the instructions in the form closely. If it says “do not write below this line” or if it says you have to sign it in front of the consul, leave the space blank.

I was supposed to ask that question yesterday but I didnt find time to do that. Anyway, I just did the online filling up of forms (DS156 and DS157) last night but there's a generated barcode in it. I downloaded the file from this link.

Where did you download your forms PW?

I downloaded it from the same website but that was in January this year or six months ago. It is possible that they may have updated the on-line form. The downloadable forms were not available from the Manila Embassy website when I applied for visa so I just googled the forms and found the evisaforms.state.gov website. I do not remember seeing the barcode in my application form but then I could also be mistaken. I’ll take a look at my files tonight.

For Philippines you only need one NBI clearance for all of the Philippines, I'm sure about that. Get at least two copies, one goes with the application and the other is taken to the interview. Make sure you tell them the purpose is for immigration to the US. If he's lived outside the country, I believe he needs a police clearance from that country as well.

hello everyone long time no post thought I would share this for those of you getting your visa's

very very important once you get to America file for your SSN (you can do it before your marriage)

file for your AOS and EAD ASAP

we had a problem with Yove's SSN they didn’t put in her middle initial, or did put it in. and it caused a 2 month delay that made me get screaming mad storming into my congressman’s office etc etc. for those of you long time posters probably know my screaming temper tantrums at government officials is pretty well documented.

Now Yove risks losing a great job in Boston on august 3. needless to say i spent all morning screaming at USCIS who told me there’s nothing they will do because its SSA fault for the delay not there’s ( WRONG ANSWER TO GIVE ME ) I called senator John Kerry office senator Ed Kennedy’s office and congressman dellahunts office ,and called channel 7, 4 and 5 as well as the Boston Globe and Herald. (im anything but discrete) Sen. Kennedy's office called me they had gotten my message ,and a call from the herald asking about what they were going to do. ive been assured that if there's anyway that the senators office can help they will. and they told me not to worry she wont lose her job.

the squeaky wheel gets the grease. and i know how to squeak :P
