PCC from Ahmedabad

I have read several posts on here about getting a PCC from the Ahmedabad passport office. Should I tell my fiancé to just go to Mumbai to get it or has the issue with the Ahmedabad office been cleared up? Would like to know if anyone here has been able to get the PCC from Ahmedabad recently for a K-1 visa application and how they were able to get it.

my husband went yesterday and for him it was pretty easy. We had no idea that his paperwork would be accepted on our first try. we are following the cr 1 route.. he had to submit the original passport, pcc form, 300 rs, show DS 230 checklist that shows that pcc is needed....not sure what the process is for k1 but i guess it woudl be the same

Just as an FYI...the Ahmedabad passport office is now checking the local PCCs to make sure they are signed by the Local Tax Collectors as well as the head tax collector's office in Gandhinagar. When she was at the Gandhinagar office another gentlemen was sent from the Passport office to get the signature of the tax collector there.

I am wondering what's the reason behind doing this? Also, why only ahmedabad passport office and not any others in india? That's strange how every other passport office issue pcc without even approval letter and only ahmedabad passport office makes us go through all this #######.

I actually had a family friend who is a lawyer call the Ahmedabad passport office, and the reason they gave him is because of folks in the office taking bribes to get these documents done without the proper signatures and notorizations. So now they are making the process more stringent to ensure the proper procedures are followed.

As far as the approval letter, I think it has to do with being able to see official documentation of the case file, as there has been a lot of fraud. My wife just showed them a scan of the AOS bill and the NOA2 approval notice, the first time she went and they said that was enough, but just needed the local PCCs signed off by the local tax collector, and the Gandhinagar office.

If I were to read the tea leaves, its only a matter of time before it becomes stringent across all of the passport offices.

Ahmedabad PCC are always tough.....I got one from Bangalore and 2 from Chandigarh....all were piece of cake..none asked for any document proof and all.....Gujrat is a completely diffrent thing

Yup Gujarat seems to have its own laws, my wife was able to submit the PCC application at the Ahmedabad passport office today. They took copies of the AOS bill and the NOA2 for the I-130.

Great man! Make sure as soon as your wife gets pcc, tell her to scanned color copy to you so you can submit with your ds 230. NVC will accept scanned copy.

Yes, once you submit your documents it will take around 4 to 5 days for NVC to complete your case if there is no RFE.
