Clearing something up about the I-864 and I-864a

OK, short and sweet.

I am sponsoring my wife and I don't make the $. My father is going to joint sponsor and his income is more than enough.

Now, I fill out an I-864 (including last 3 years of tax info)

My father fills out an I-864 and an I-864a (including last 3 years of tax info)

Correct?

It seems he only needs to do an I-864a, but I have been told they like as much info about anyone connected to the immigrant.

Thanks, been working on this for awhile, but getting some of the required paperwork out of Thailand during the past "coup" and then having to wait for my taxes to be amended have put me way behind schedule :/

Nope.

No matter how much you are making, you should file I-864 as petitioner.

Then supplimental support can be filed by other household.

So you should fill out I-864, and your father should fill out I-864A.
