Slightly O/T - but I caught the end of O'Reilly's radio show in the car last night and the results of a phone-in survey they did asking whether or not people people wanted the Obama presidency to succeed - about 40% said 'no'.

That probably has a lot to do with the make-up of O'Reilly's audience - but still: 40% of people don't want their new president to succeed!?

What happened to patriotism...

"I don't want the economy to get better, or for Obama to be the one to do it

O'Reilly is the the worst thing on TV or Radio. He has no real value to journalism or broadcasting news other than his bigoted, close minded opinions.

What happened to real reporting? Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC are all ratings grabbers who apeal to their audiences' position on the lattitude of liberalism/conservatism. Here's whats happening in our opinion... instead of this is whats happening.

Yeah O'Reilly is a joke, and his phone poll was pretty flawed with a central question that was open to wide interpretation.

But still - even in dire economic straits it seems that people still put ideology ahead of pragamatism. Its very strange.

That probably 36 out of every 40 responders believe that 0bama is ineligible (born in Kenya, and hiding it) would also skew results greatly--basically, since they don't want him at all, the question of him succeeding is cancelled.

Cancelled? Hardly...

The country has real, tangible problems and people don't want the government to succeed in resolving. Bizarre given that the government's ability to turn around the recession has quite a bit to do with whether or not those people will have jobs or be able to pay their mortgages.

where did the patriotism go when everyone wanted to see the american auto industry fail?
Well not everyone... But propping up failing businesses isn't about Patriotism. Wanting your country and government to succeed in overcoming huge problems surely is.
Good point...propping up a failing business oft means preservation of the conditions/behaviours which caused the failure--hardly desirable.

Do people 'want' the auto industry to fail? I don't think so, it was more a question of should the auto industry be 'bailed out' and if they should, should they be accountable to those who bailed them out - particularly the bosses.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .
