"Until you can include an actual divorce decree with an I-130 filing, absolutely no progress will be made toward this immigration process.''

You have to be free and clear to marry to FILE!! I imagine also to marry even in Las Vegas!

Response from United States Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia: (its still 7 months late!)

Dear Mr. Gene,

Thank you for your email again about your inquiries of your prior petition filing. Back to the history of your prior case, you are now single and free to marry any woman of your choice. A person can remarry in any cases of being single. If you wish to have your record of filing a petition cleared on USCIS records, you may contact them. Your prior petition is being sent to USCIS. The service center will contact you when they receive it. Thank you for your understanding.

Regards,

(to a Cambodian girl -- never marry one :bonk: ).

That was completely unnecessary.

It was necessary...

I admit, I got burned, bad. But I survived... many people end up getting the girl back to the states and it just gets so much worse...

I lived in Cambodia for 4 years... I was so blinded by thinking I could make things work... I was lucky to have good friends and parents that helped me, even when I scolded them because of my blindness.

Of course this is not 100% of the cases, but I would have to say about 95%+

When I could actually see again (I wasn't stupid anymore), I reflected on what had happened the last 3 years and I wanted to slap myself... Yeah, love is money for them... even when you dont give money, and you live poor, the smart ones know the bigger picture.... my ex, after she got her visa, spent all our savings at a casino and I found her in the hotel room wiith some tourist, naked... of course, i wanted to divorce her, and I revoked the visa 5 days later... I had to pay the damn casino for the room.

She managed to fool me for almost 3 years... but when I forced the divorce on her after that, she demanded money, which I paid, and walked... she had to surrender her passport(with the IR1 visa) at the embassy before I paid her off.

So YES it is necessary... and she was sooo believable until he got that visa...

The girl I am with now is a complete equal, in education and financial position. We can both work and live in either US or Finland... we are 50/50... it is a much more satisfying relationship, one I know will last.

Hi Gene,

If in California, they have something called MEDI-CAL. All pregnant women are entitled, regardless of their immigration status (you dont even need a social security number) As long as you're pregnant, and have low or no income, they take care of the expenses. My friend's nanny was an illegal alien and got pregnant and used MEDI-CAL to deliver her baby at a reputable hospital and they covered everything. In case you cant get back to Finland before your wife can fly, then perhaps you can use the Cali system.

Also, yes, its NOT NECESSARY to file a tax return if you're unemployed and had zero income worldwide. My accountant confirmed this, as I have been living overseas and unemployed (just a "housewife" technically hahaha) for the past 4 years. You do not need to file "0".

You know, if you know more info on things related to insurance, let me know... I was told today it was my best option to stay in the US to finish the paperwork.

So I went to the lawyer today with my future wife...

I told him the entire situation, with the immigration issues and about the divorce papers...

Divorce stuff was interesting:

I can get a divorce in 3 weeks from Nevada

I can get a divorce in 7 days from Guam

This is including the residency requirements... I think he is cheating somewhere... but that is fast.

This is if the embassy dropped the ball and lost my papers (likely)

He told me to marry in US ASAP and even though I don't have the original certificate, it is not an issue, because the embassy is aware and I have the signed affidavit.

He said I should still process the divorce in the US asap, as a safety measure.

Once we are married, file the I-130 and I-485 simultaneously. with the copy of the divorce cert and affidavit.

we have to wait..

we will probably not be able to travel to Finland, and should wait, because the interview might occur during the time we want to go to finland...

Medi-cal now becomes promising.... this is a tough situation
