Hi just wondering from those of you with experience, my husband goes for his interview in a few days. His Visa is the IR1 and we were wondering if he will need to pay any fees and how much he will need to have on him.

We understood all fees for this type of Visa had been paid previously? But we do not want him to go unprepared with less money than he will need.

Tnak You,

Lucy

I don't know about IR1.....perhaps someone else can answer that for you, however do have him take money along just in case. I know with the K-1 my husband had to pay the DHL fee at the time of his interview. Just have him cover all the bases cos you never know what Cairo may pull.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Good luck and tell us how it went

My hubby interviewed for a K1 so I can't help there...however, they were kind with him but very thorough looking through all his information. He had his interview in English though the man tried to talk with him several times in Arabic (he felt it was a bit of a game).

As Nagi and HG said the money for the DHL package I think that's standard for all no matter what visa. However, as Nagi mentioned make sure he has money no matter what for any surprises.

Best of luck!! (F)

We were CR1 and Ahmed had to pay $400 plus the DHL fee. Not sure it would be the same for you though. I emailed the consulate before the appt to make sure and they did get back to me. May want to give it a shot if you have time. But always be prepared, like everyone else said. Never trust Cairo.

Got married : 6-3-06

I-130 delivered : 6-12-06 - Appt in Cairo

I-130 Approved : 4-18-08 - USCIS approval!!

Visa Interview Date : 6-22-08

Case sent to WADC: 8-6-08 - FBI check

Email From Embassy 1-09 - Still in AP (7 months)

19 DHL scans - 2-19-09

1-26-09 - Out of AP, now final review

2-26-09 - Visa in hand!

3-11-09 - POE JFK - Got stuck there due to immigration taking too long. They didn't change his visa from CR1 to IR1, have to go to immigration here to fix it.

3-12-09 - Arrived in Portland!!

5-29-2010 - Zane was born ** Absolute best day of my life!

6-7-2010 - Ahmed went back to Egypt

I wonder why he had to pay $400. We already paid that amount months ago. Did you pay it twice. I was told it covered all his fees but guess I better be checking with the embassy. Oh, and out of curiosity why it take you so long to get from I130 approval and your interview date.? I was trying to read your timeline and I was curious, did you have problems? Thanks for all replys.

Thanks
