HELP!!! Affraid my traffic violation ticket will affect my O1 application!??!

Hi Everyone.

REALLY REALLY REALLY hope someone out there has some information they can help me with.

I've been working for 3 months on my O1 application, and a wrinkle has occurred, as I 2 months ago was stopped by the police from riding my bike on the sidewalk. The only reason I did that, was to avert getting hit by a truck that was driving way too fast. So I rode up on the sidewalk to get out of the way.

Anyway. My lawyer told me to deal with the summons I got. I missed my court date of course by one day, and then went to court and got fined a 100 dollars, which i paid. But now my lawyer says that it might be bad, as I'm now convicted of a violation.

Will this turn up when they are processing my visa application? And in terms of the form DS-156 for my interview (if I ever get that far), there is a question: Have you ever been convicted of a crime or an offence? Should I say Yes to that, and would it ruin my chances?

HOPE HOPE HOPE, someone have dealt with this and have some info that would assuage my fears.

Thomas

THanks!
