Hi everyone,

Haven't been posting for a while, trying to settle in and adjust into things.

I have a number of probably simply questions but I would really like to make double-sure on some things.

1) First of all, we had filed for AOS shortly after we got married in early July (I am a K-1er) and I receive the NOA of approval which (thanks to the usual confused delays with the USPS) arrived at the same time with my GC (permanent resident card, conditional to 2 years since I received it so early).

While of course we are thrilled, I must underline that I did not undergo an interview AT ALL; no I-551 stamps needed while waiting for the card etc.

Is that normal? Has this happened to anyone before? I suppose I had traveled so much in the past few years to see my fiancee and stayed for so long that they might have not felt the need to examine me in an interview. While I actually received my GC a few weeks later by post, it has been in effect since October 31st! Thus the petition and card production were both done in less than three months from the date I filed for AOS!!!

2) The second question, continues from the first. So, OK, now I have the GC. We're planning to travel to Europe on vacation for one week some time next year. From what I have read on this excellent site, I do not need to apply for AP (since I'm only going away for a week). So what travel documents will I need? I think it should be my GC plus my unexpired passport (valid well past 6 months from the date we leave the country). Is this true, or is there anything else I should bring with me? Or perhaps I should avoid traveling altogether until I have conditions on my GC removed?

3) I understand that re-applying for EAD is needed while waiting for AOS approval on an annual basis (IIRC, up to 4 months before it expires but not earlier, using again I-765, the payment, passport copies, photos, returning the expired card etc). Now that I have the GC, however, will I need to renew my EAD card by re-applying every year? And if not, what do I show to an employer, IRS etc? Just the GC? I am not sure of what happens in this case.

Thanks in advance for any help!

1. Yes people get approved without interview all the time.

2. Your Greencard is good for international travel and work.

3. No EAD is needed once you have been approved for Greencard. all you need to show an employer is your SSN and a state DL or ID, or your greencard.
