hi all!

anybody has had this happened to them? I'm petitioning my husband and we got his NBI clearance last month.. sent it in with the DS-230 and i made sure everything was in order, etc.. then the other day, i spoke with an operator at NVC, asking what info was missing from the DS-230 and she said I HAVE NO POLICE CLEARANCE!!

ano ba yan??? dba yung NBI and POLICE CLEARANCE are the same thing?? so needless to say, she got an earful from me although it wasn't her fault.. so i dont' know what to do now.. so frustrated.. had my husband get a police clearance in case they won't accept the NBI..

so dumb! :bonk::wow::bonk:

NBI clearance and police clearance are two different things. For police clearance,you get it from the local municipality. NBI clearance, i guess, that's the one you have.

Kung nagworked or lived abroad ang husband mo for a year or more din kailangan yung magsubmit ng Police Clearance galing abroad.

OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES. Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present police certificates from other countries where they have lived for one (1) year or more after reaching the age of 16. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, aliases or nicknames used while in the country in question, including different spellings you have used of those names. Country-specific information on how to secure police certificates is available on the State Department’s web site at http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc...ocity_3272.html.

then why would NVC require him to have a police clearance? they already have the NBI. he hasn't lived anywhere else but Iloilo since 16..

i hope they know what they are doing over there..

I agree with you... I thought the Police clearance was just IF they lived in another country. I though the NBI would be suffice but my Fiancee says she needs a Police report too although she has lived her WHOLE life in Leyte and Cebu. It does appear redundant or dumb. Just another way of collecting money from you I guess.

Police clearance are good for 6 months only. NBI is a year if im not mistaken. He can go to a station near him and he just have to pay an amount and will need a cedula (community tax certificate) and have his photo taken and he will be able to get it within an hour depending on the station. They will assist him there when he go there and usually they put the instructions in a big board in front of the station for everyone to read. :thumbs:

in my case i submitted both police clearance from our town as well as an updated nbi clearance... its better na lahat bigay mo para wala na sila hingin na kulang diba :D

ang requirements sa amin for police clearance is sedula, barangay clearance, picture at bayad... not sure kung 150 or 200 ang bayad sa pagkuha ng police clearance

My husband and I are going to file our ViSA application this september, would it be an advantage if we are going to submit my NBI clearance and Police clearance together with the set of documents that we are going to file to USCIS?

  • 2 months later...

Just a really long overdue update everyone: during my husband's interview with the pre-screener, the guy asked him for the NBI clearance, so my husband showed him his personal copy. Prior to this we sent in the Police Clearance from Iloilo to NVC just as they requested.

So, better to send both in, just in case they feel like they need it. Just another hassle pero what can you do?
