Has anybody gotten their PCC done from Mumbai.

I am in the belief there are two processes

1. Passport Office:

a. apply at passport office (diffnt form then 1 from CID office)

b. it goes to CID (SB-II) office

c. from CID, it gets forwarded to local police station

d. local police station does background check

e. local police station forwards to Passport office or CID office again?

f. passport office couriers you passport + pcc back.

They took her original passport.

2. CID office

same process except passport office involvement

I'm still trying to get 1st PCC and its been stuck since 20 days now...

Has anybody applied using passport office in Mumbai and if yes, what is the process after step d.... I'm really worried as they're saying its wrong form as I tihnk they're confused thinking we did not use the form that CID office provides... but I want from the passport office so why should I apply at CID office.

Please any Mumbaites who got their PCC done recently HELP!!

I'm still trying to figure out why do you need 2 PCC?

Its absolutely retarded, cause the whole process of 2 PCC stinks big time, its a major waste of time and effort, very frustrating.

However, having said that, for anyone who migrating to the US permanently has to have the 2 PCCs done. Its stated clearly on the Mumbai consulate website.

Allocate atleast 2 months for the whole process.

For the PCC from the passport office, its best handled by your local passport agent, they do all the filing. Than the case gets transferred to your local police station, after that a pandu comes to your house and verifies everything. Its the same process as getting a new passport.

For the PCC from the Commisioner's office, this is a ###### to get. First you have to go and acquire the form from the Comms office near VT behind Xavier's college. After that you have to fill it and get a society letter from your building, copies of your passport, copies of your ration card, driver's licence, electricity bill, photo, a demand draft of rupees 100.

All of these documents have to be attested by your bank manager or someone who is authorized to attest. Submit these with the application form to the Comms office, than your file gets transferred back to your local police station.

You have to personally go and check with your local police station, perhaps a week after submission as they do not care.

Again at the police station you have to submit copies of everything along with your photograph.

Than after they approve, they send your file back to the Comms office, after which you will get your police certificate.

I filed for my PCC from the Comm's office in the first week of August, currently its stuck at the local police station. Hopefully, it will get nudged again this week.

Total cost of the 2 PCC = rupees 300 + rupees 100 + agent fees.

Cost of frustration handling this = $1,000,000.

Best of luck, you will need it.

Kurt.
