Hi all,

I just called DOS and found out that our Packet 3 was sent out today, and our interview date was scheduled for October 15th. Simo is really depressed about this...according to others who had been through Casablanca, we were expecting the wait time to be a lot less (3 or 4 weeks).

I was wondering if any of you have had any luck at moving up your interview date, and if so, how you went about doing this.

Thanks!

Elizabeth

As far as I know, once the date is set, it's set. If we all got to pick our interview dates things would be a lot easier :)

The time will fly. Trust me. It seems like yesterday Tarik called me telling me when his interview would be. :)

I know absolutely nothing about this yet, but I'm wondering if it has anything to due with Ramadan in September? Just wondering if that would be something that has any impact on the interview date. Hmmm..

I think the time will go by quicker than you realize. I know I'm gathering stuff up and I haven't even gotten approval yet. It's a lot of work all this prepping, though!

I've heard of people postponing an interview, but never of moving it up. It may indeed have something to do with Ramadan, or perhaps a backlog of cases have just made it from USCIS to DOS. Our own interview wait was a little over a month, if I remember correctly, and that time seemed to fly until the last few days because we had so much to do (paperwork, medical, arranging travel to Casa, etc). Hope the time passes quickly for you too.

I would just email them and ask if they might consider moving the date. It can't hurt to ask!

Keep in mind that there is paperwork to be done, certificates to obtain, proof to organize and a medical appt to make. I wouldn't be in too much of a rush as you might over look something. And if Ramadan is the factor, it would make sense that the interview is in Oct.

Like others have said.. I've never heard of an interview date being moved up.... The only case I can think that they would grant a request like that would be if there was some medical emergency (the USC ill and requiring help or pregnant and needing assistance from the foreign SO ) I think it's been done before for military personnel when they are facing a long term deployment as well - but beyond that I don't think they move them up... If so I believe everyone would be calling and requesting this... They told you on August 27th that the interview is for November 1 and people call and ask for August 28th.. We'd all want to have it yesterday. But like others have told you...... that is only about a month and you have a lot to do before then with the scheduling and attending medical exam, grabbing original papers, current police certificates, etc - Wish you both the best of luck and no matter what I hope it's a successful interview and visa in hand asap incha allah.

Also, the consulate will want you to have your medical a week or so before the interview so they have time to receive the results. The doctors' offices may reduce their hours during Ramadan; the consulate's schedule is not the only one to take into account. And isn't train travel during Ramadan a bit more hectic (assuming he has to do that)? I know the wait is so hard, but the extra couple of weeks may turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

well my husband's interview was scheduled like almost 7 months away  i wrote embassy to move it up, and they replied...sorry they were booked. well just less than 2 months they called my husband to come in for his interview in 2 weeks- let me tell you, it was great but that was the most stressful two weeks trying to get everything done before the interview! we did it though just in the nick of time! ;) good luck!
