My filipina fiancee is planning to go to CFO counseling/seminar while waiting for interview. She stopped by the office in Cebu to find out the requirements and fee. They told her that she needs a "legal capacity" from me, this basically is proof that I am single. I have never been married and hence do not have divorce papers, to prove that I am single like all of the other k-1 couples i know. My question is has anyone else had to do this? and Where do u get this documantation in the US?

What is your age?

Maybe they want a parental consent from her if she is under 23 or 24, I can't remember age requirement for PI parental consent.

If you get to much hassel from the CFO in Cebu, just have her do the one in Manila at St. Mary it only takes about 2 hours there and is easier. I hear the CFO in Cebu is all day.

We used St, Marys in Manila.

CFO in Cebu told my wife, then fiance, the same thing. as you and I know there is no such thing here in the USA. you can provide her with any document the shows your marital status. tax return, paycheck stub etc. as I recall, they did not ask her for it when she attended CFO. she said she was asked several times if she knew I wasn't married. one time they asked her " how can you be so sure?" she told them " I've talked to his mother" after that, they stopped asking.
