Question About DS156 #25

On DS156 question #25 it asks for the name and number of person we (or more precisely my husband) will be staying with or visiting. I'm at a loss as to what to put there.

My husband & I have bought a house, so for question #24 I put that address as where we will be living. However, #25 asks for a contact name & number. I have no family in that area, so I can't use a relative's name & phone number. I have family elsewhere in the country, but I won't be staying with them. Should I list them anyway? I could put my name, since the question is directed to my husband, but we don't have a phone hooked up yet. Can I leave the phone number blank?? Will they freak out if I don't have a contact phone #?

Has anybody else run into this??? :help:

Rebster,

Yes - not 'we', 'he'. Your husband will be staying with you, will he not?

You could leave the phone number item blank, or write 'none', or write what you wrote here - 'no phone yet'.

My husband won't be "staying" with me - we'll be living there together. :P

My main concern was that since we are living together here in the UK and there is no phone or contact person at our house in the US, the Embassy would not be happy with us leaving that blank - they would actually want someone/somewhere that they could phone to get in touch with us once we're in the US.

With that in mind, I am going to put my relative's name and phone number there. Even though they are not in the area, we are planning to visit them upon our arrival in the US (on our way to our new home). And having re-read the form, the question is "Name and telephone # of person in the US who you will be staying with or visiting"

Rebster,

Recognize that DS-156 is the one-size fits all non-immigrant visa application. Like some of the other questions on the form, this question has different significance for different visa types.

It is concievable, but not likely, that the consulate in London will be wanting to get in touch with you once you're in the USA.
