Hi everyone,

We're filling in all of our documents for my new husband's AOS process. I'm using my mother as a sponsor for the form I-864 just as I used her for the initial application. I keep reading about the I-864A form. I'm assuming I'll just find this on the USCIS website. Is this right? Has anyone that's done this (used a sponsor) have any advice?

Also, I just reached Question 25 on the I-864 and it says beside the box that needs checked "I have filed a Federal tax return for each of the three most recent tax years. I have attached the required photocopy or transcript of my Federal tax return for only the most recent tax year." I was in college the past two of the past three years and had only minimal income (less than $1,500 from work study at a private college, therefore no federal taxes were taken out). So, last year was the first year I've filed on my own. Do I still check this box? It also has the list for the income reported on my last three taxes. I don't have this. I have proof of my full time student status for these two years and my W-2's from the private college. I'm just confused neither check box applies to me. Do I check it and then provide the needed information to prove my point?

Thanks for any help....Megan

No one has any ideas? I guess I'll just work something out.

I know that people have filed with sponsors on here...what did you do when you got to the AOS section?

I would check the boxes and then provide a written explanation along with the proof to support what you are stating.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip
