Hi everyone,

My fiance enters the US tomorrow! YAY! It's been such a long process and I thought (ignorantly) that the toughest and most expensive parts were behind us. I've just been looking over the AOS guide here and I'm overwhelmed. Does anyone have any advice? The guide seems tough to follow but it may just be that I'm full of a wide range of emotions right now, happy that he's coming, annoyed at the fees with AOS, confused by the guide, lol!! Any tips?

Congratulations!

OK, here are the forms you'll need to fill out: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...adjustmentforms

I-485 (the AOS form)

I-864 Affidavit of support

G-325A (for your fiance) bio form

and then I-765 Employment Auth and I-131 Application for Advance Parole

The last two are optional, but the fee is included in the $1010 for AOS so you might as well fill them out.

It's a lot to process, sure, but you've made it this far! We've already filled out all the forms as much as we can now and are just waiting for the wedding and the marriage license....

Good luck :)

You got through the K1 process. The AoS process is more of the same. A bit more money and a bit more paperwork, but at least you're now in the same country as your other half. Just approach it carefully and methodically as you did with the K1 and you'll be fine. Any questions, you know where to come to ask.

First things first - enjoy your wedding, and take a break from the all that paperwork - and have some fun together!

Then ....check with the guides and example forms both here and USCIS site, and work through each application, some of it gets a bit repetitive but it is worth the effort to get it right.

I forgot to apply for AP - then wished I had as the wait for the EAD became boring.

Dont forget to check in with VJers if you get stuck or need clarification.

Good Luck and Congrats!
