Timing for AOS & EAD

My wife will be here next week with a K-3 visa. Our one year anniversary is 4 days later. I read somewhere (can't find it now of course) that it's better to get the EAD now and wait for a year to file AOS to get a 10 year instead of a 2 year since we will have been married over 2 years at that point.

Am I correct?

You could do that yeah. K3s can apply for EAD separately from the AOS, and it'll be valid for 2 years (unless they've recently changed that). You can apply for AOS anytime before the K3 expires, but you may need to consider processing times in your area, if the processing times are more than a year, you'll also have to shell out a few more $$$ to get another EAD.

Plus add cost for another full set of medical because the one that she had would have been expired after a year.
